Chief Surgeon of the Metropolitan PoliceChief Surgeon of the Metropolitan Police was a post created in 1865 to oversee the healthcare of officers of the Metropolitan Police. It was a renaming of the post of Superintending Surgeon of the Metropolitan Police held by John William Fisher from 1830 until 1865.[1] It was itself renamed Physician and Chief Medical Officer of the Metropolitan Police from 1926 to 1957[2] before reverting to Chief Surgeon until 1978, when it became Chief Medical Officer of the Metropolitan Police.
