Challa Sreenivasuu Setty (born 26 September 1965), also known as C.S. Setty, is an Indian banker and current Chairman of State Bank of India, India's largest public sector bank. As one of the Managing directors, he looked after International Banking, Global Markets and Technology verticals before succeeding Dinesh Kumar Khara as the 27th Chairman of State Bank of India. As of 2024[update], he had served over 35 years at various levels in the State Bank of India.[1] Early lifeSetty was born on 26 September 1965 in a Telugu family.[2] He was born in Peddapothulapadu village in the Jogulamba Gadwal district of Telangana state.[3][4] EducationHe did his entire schooling in Telugu medium government schools.[5] He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU).[6] He has been described as a bright student who received several scholarships.[7] CareerHe began his career at the State Bank of India in 1988 as a Probationary Officer.[2] He started his banking career with an assignment at the Baroda branch of the State Bank of India in 1988.[8] He is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.[2] Over his more than three-decade-long career, he has gained experience in corporate credit, retail banking, digital banking, and international banking.[2] ChairmanshipOn 29 June 2024, the Financial Services Institutions Bureau selected him as the 27th chairman of the State Bank to succeed Dinesh Kumar Khara in August 2024.[9] See alsoReferences
