What does "R. v. " stand for?

what does the 'r.' stand for in the names of these cases? this is a context issue, imo.not everyone reading this is canadian, and i wonder how many of them/us (i'm a yank who grew up in ottawa) know. i know i don't.Toyokuni3 (talk) 22:21, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The 'R' stands for the Crown, which is always represented by Regina (Queen) or Rex (King). This is mentioned at Case citation#Canada. Hope that answers your question. wacko2 (talk) 16:12, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
