Burj Abi Haidar (Arabic: برج أبي حيدر) is an area in the Mazraa quarter of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.[1][2] The area is predominantly Sunni Muslim[3] with the presence of a Shia community, as well as a minority of Christians and Druze.[4]
Etymology
The name refers to one of the defensive towers built in the area,[5][6] and the Beiruti family of Abi Haidar.[7] It is commonly mistaken for "Borj Abi Hadir" to the east of Beirut.[8][9]
