Swinson attended high school at Chapel Hill located in Douglasville, Georgia. Coming out of high school, Swinson was rated as a three star recruit, where he held offers from schools such as Arizona State, Florida State, Missouri, North Carolina, and Oregon.[1] Ultimately, Swinson decided to commit to play college football for the Oregon Ducks.[2][3]
College career

In Swinson's first collegiate season in 2020 he played in seven games where he made three tackles.[4] During the 2021 season, Swinson notched 24 tackles with four being for a loss, three sacks, and two pass deflections.[5] During week two of the 2021 season, Swinson made the start against Ohio State had five tackles, a sack, and a pass deflection in the upset win, where for his performance he was named the Pac-12 defensive lineman of the week.[6] In the 2022 season, Swinson totaled eight tackles, with one and a half being for a loss.[7] After the conclusion of the 2022 season, Swinson decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[8][9]
LSU
Swinson decided to transfer to play for the LSU Tigers.[10][11] During, Swinson's first season with LSU he notched 35 tackles with six and a half being for a loss, two sacks, five pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.[12]
