Boatman is a locality in the Shire of Murweh, Queensland, Australia.[2] In the 2021 census, Boatman had a population of 18 people.[1]

Geography

The Warrego Highway passes to the north, the Mitchell Highway to the west, and the Balonne Highway to the south.[3]

The land use is grazing on native vegetation and there are numerous homesteads in the area:[4][5]

History

The locality was named and bounded on 28 March 2002.[2]

Demographics

In the 2016 census, Boatman had a population of 6 people.[6]

In the 2021 census, Boatman had a population of 18 people.[1]

Education

There are no schools in Boatman. The nearest government primary school is Morven State School in neighbouring Morven to the north. The nearest government secondary schools are Charleville State High School in Charleville to the north-west and Mitchell State High School in Mitchell to the north-east. However, the distances involved mean that distance education and boarding school are other options.[4]
