Barkat Hossain Polash
Barkat Hossain Polash (Bengali: বরকত হোসেন পলাশ) is a Bangladeshi cinematographer, producer primarily involved in Bangladeshi independent cinema. Polash's cinematography has received significant attention for notable works such as Sincerely Yours, Dhaka, Jalaler Golpo (Jalal's Story), Taqdeer, Saba, and Dear Maloti. These projects have garnered acclaim both nationally and internationally, with screenings at prestigious festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival, Red Sea International Film Festival, Cairo International Film Festival, International Film Festival of India and the Busan International Film Festival.[1][2] Early life and educationAfter graduating from Dhaka University, Barkat Hossain Polash developed a strong interest in filmmaking. He earned a scholarship to attend the Busan Asian Film School, where he gained knowledge about film production. Later, he participated in the Berlinale Talents Campus, furthering his involvement in international cinema initiatives. Polash's participation in programs such as Berlinale Talents highlights his engagement with global cinema networks.[3][4] CareerHe has worked as a cinematographer and producer, his notable camera works Jalal's Story was premiered at Busan International Film Festival, short film The last post office directed by Aung Rakhine was selected at Locarno International Film Festival 2018, Saba, which was showcased at the Red Sea International Film Festival and previously officially selected at Toronto International Film Festival .[5] His career includes contributions to various feature films, television series, and short films.
