The Abernant Stakes is a Group 3flathorse race in Great Britain open to horses aged three years or older. It is run over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres) on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket in mid-April.
History
The event is named after Abernant, a successful sprinter in the late 1940s and early 1950s. It was established in 1969, and the first running was won by Song.[1]
For a period the race held Listed status. It was promoted to Group 3 level in 2013.[2]
The race is currently staged on the final day of Newmarket's three-day Craven Meeting. It is run on the same day as the Craven Stakes.
