Al Ain started the season with a new board of directors,[1][2] after the former board of directors resigned following the 2010–11 season, one of the worst in the club's history.[3]

On June 6, Al Ain announced officially Cosmin Olaroiu as the new manager for two seasons and released all the foreign players.[4] After only one day of contracted with Cosmin Olaroiu, Al Ain reaching an agreement with AEK Athens for Argentine Ignacio Scocco according to reports a value of €3 million.[5]
