Ümit CizreÜmit Cizre (born 1946[1]) is a Turkish academic, and a leading expert on civilian-military relations in Turkey.[2][3] She is a professor of political science and international relations at Istanbul Şehir University.[4] She is the editor of Almanac Turkey 2005 – Security Sector and Its Democratic Oversight (2006), which gained public attention in Turkey.[5][6] CareerAfter graduating from London University in 1968 she gained a masters from Middle East Technical University in 1982 and a doctorate from Ankara University in 1987. She was at the Bilkent University in Ankara, later becoming director of the Center for Modern Turkish Studies at Istanbul Şehir University in 2010.[1] She has been a Fulbright Scholar and visiting professor at Princeton University, and a public policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (2009).[1][7] Books
