Sabuk Hindi , juga dikenal sebagai Jantung Hindi , adalah sebuah wilayah linguistik yang mencakup India bagian utara , Tengah , timur , dan barat di mana beragam bahasa Indo-Arya Utara , Tengah , Timur dan Barat dituturkan, dengan bahasa Hindi sebagai lingua franca .[ 4] [ 5] [ 6] [ 7] [ 8]
Istilah "sabuk Hindi" juga terkadang digunakan untuk merujuk kepada sembilan negara bagian dengan bahasa resmi bahasa Hindi Baku Modern , yaitu Bihar , Chhattisgarh , Haryana , Himachal Pradesh , Jharkhand , Madhya Pradesh , Rajasthan , Uttar Pradesh dan Uttarakhand , serta wilayah persatuan Chandigarh dan Wilayah Ibu Kota Nasional Delhi .[ 9] [ 10] [ 11] [ 12]
Istilah ini juga terkadang merujuk lebih luas ke Sabuk Hindi–Urdu atau Sabuk Hindustani.[ 13]

^ Some languages may be over- or underrepresented as the census data used is at the state-level. For example, while Urdu has 52 million speakers (2001), in no state is it a majority as the language itself is primarily limited to Indian Muslims.
