Avery grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and attended St. Francis Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, and Franklin High School.[1]
College career
On May 3, 2015, Avery committed to play football at Ohio State, but transferred to Toledo after an eligibility issue at Ohio State, redshirting there before transferring a second time to Rutgers.[2][3][4]
On May 13, 2022, Avery signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent, and made the 53-man roster to start the regular season following final cuts.[6] He played 14 games during the 2022 season, making 29 total tackles, nine pass deflections, and a fumble recovery.[7]
Avery played 15 games during the 2023 season, making 33 total tackles and two pass deflections.[8]
Avery was waived by the Titans on August 27, 2024, and re-signed to the practice squad.[9][10] He was elevated to the active roster on October 15.[11] Avery appeared in nine games during the 2024 season, making three tackles on special teams.[12] He was released on December 28, 2024.[13]
