Soap on a rope
Soap on a rope is a bar of toilet soap that is molded around a small loop of rope.[1][2][3] The user is meant to place the rope loop over their wrist.[2] Soap on a rope was invented in the late 1940s after soap makers realized they could mold soap around any object.[4] The notion of soap on a rope as a seasonal gift, particularly for men, was popular in the United Kingdom in the 1970s,[5] and it remained an ironic or niche marketing tool through the 1990s. 'Pope on a rope' soaps, for example, being sold during papal visits to the US and UK.[6][7] References
