Paula Butterly
Paula Butterly is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Louth constituency since the 2024 general election.[1] Butterly was co-opted to Louth County Council in 2021 to fill the seat vacated by Colm Markey upon his succession to the European Parliament as the substitute to Mairead McGuinness who became Ireland's EU Commissioner. She served as Cathaoirleach of Ardee Municipal District from 2022-3 and of Louth County Council from 2023-4.[2] During this time she also served as a member of the Council's Audit Committee. Having retained her seat at the 2024 Louth County Council election she remained Leader of the Fine Gael group on the Council and was appointed to EMRA. She was later selected with Senator John McGahon to contest the general election in the Louth constituency.[3] A barrister by profession her father, John, was a councillor in Ardee and she is a relative of the Patrick S. Donegan political family from the Monasterboice area north of Drogheda.[4] References
